Import test data to Azure SQL Server

This article will describe how to get access to sample data in Azure SQL Server. This database will be used later in other articles about Azure Data Factory.

First, log on to Azure Portal. Search for SQL. And then choose “SQL databases”

Create new SQL Server instance

Click on “Add” to create a new database

Create new SQL Server instance 2

On the next page, you need to choose a subscription, resource group, database name and which SQL Server to use. I have also chosen the cheapest “Compute and storage”.

Create new SQL Server instance 3

To select “AdventureWorksLT” click on “Additional settings” and then “Sample”

Create new SQL Server instance 4

Then click “Review and finish”. Azure will then create the database in the background for you and then notify you when the database is available.
